The 50 guilty people

Poster protesting against the 1981 South African Springbok rugby tour of New Zealand. Poster features 50 black and white portrait photographs of New Zealand National Party MPs including their constituencies, addresses and phone numbers. Text in black against white background. Text in full from top: ‘The 50 guilty people. These MP’s are responsible for allowing the Springboks into New Zealand. Only they can stop the tour. Write, phone and visit the MP closest to you and ask them what they are doing to stop the tour. Remember mobilise against the tour on July 3. Published by HART: The New Zealand Anti-Apartheid Movement, Box 9204, Wellington.’
Historical Note
The National Government, led by Robert Muldoon from 1978 until 1981 would not refuse to issue visas to the Springbok team as Norman Kirk’s Labour Government had done in 1973 ensuring that tour was cancelled.
