Hat, Felt, Peaked Crown
This style of hat was made in Great Britain during World War I. English-made felt hats with vent holes and a fabric edged brim were used during World War I by all ranks. The attachments for the left brim were only there if needed and were used if the hat was issued to a Mounted Rifle unit. This example has a 1st (Canterbury) Regiment hat badge. Description from New Zealand Army Uniforms and clothing, 1910 - 1945. Barry O'Sullivan, Matthew O'Sullivan, page 153.
