Christchurch Star archive

The Christchurch Star archive is an extensive collection of photographic prints, negatives and newspaper clippings mostly covering local stories including those on community events, local people, places and sporting events from the 1960s to the 1990s.

The Christchurch Star newspaper was a local daily paper which ran from 1868-1990 and since then has run as a free paper, currently produced once a week.

Currently the collection is unavailable for public access as it is being arranged and described by the archivists. Christchurch City Libraries has started the process of scanning photographs and negatives to provide public access.

Star Media retains copyright in the images, and should be consulted before in copyright images are used.
