August 2011 snowstorm in post-quake Residential Red Zone
In mid-August 2011, the combination of heavy snowfalls and existing severe earthquake damage to roads meant that in the Residential Red Zone, even heavy-duty 4WD vehicles were out of action until the snow melted a bit.
