Black Dragon Theatre Group collection
A collection of photographs from the various creative performances of the Black Dragon Theatre Group and associated groups including Black Dragon Clowns, Fallout Follies, Improv Dance, Splits Dance, Dance Corporate, Playback Theatre, Fringe Theatre, Splinta Stilt Group, Danza I and II and Footsteps I and II.
The genesis of the Black Dragon Clown group was in 1979 when Val McKenzie introduced Biddy Grant to Marian Harland. Black Dragon expanded into a creative group of clowns, singers, dancers, actors and musicians active in clowning (appearing at local events), playback theatre, street performance, creative dance, stilt walking, peace parades, anti-nuclear events, classes and revues. Many of the Black Dragon Clowns went on to make large contributions to theatre, dance, performance, makeup, social work etc.
