Concorde flying over Christchurch
British Airways Concorde plane flying over Christchurch.
Contributors note: "I found these photos in an op-shop in New Brighton. The images were placed in a photo album with a note that read: “The Concorde arrived at Ch-Ch Airport from Tahiti on 9 April after a flight of 2900 miles which took 2 hrs 40 mins. The airliner had been chartered by a Miami travel company and carried about 100 passengers who had paid $65000 for the round the world trip. The Concorde lost a large chunk of its tail 25 mins after leaving Christchurch on Wednesday 12 April. No one was hurt and the aircraft landed safely at Sydney exactly 1 hr 24 mins after take off.” It looks like the actual airport the photos were taken at was the Wigram airfield, and not the current Christchurch Airport."
