Linwood Avenue Substation
Built in 1935, the substation on Linwood Ave was erected by the Municipal Electricity Department.
In January 1935 the Municipal Electricity Department advertised tenders for the construction of a new substation on Linwood Avenue to replace a pre-existing one. Built from brick, the substation is rectangular in shape. Concrete pilastrades, four on the eastern and western facades and two on the northern and southern facades, give the building a Classical appearance. The substation was completed in May 1935.
